"Play is our brain's favorite way of learning" Diane Ackerman
About the dayhome...

I provide a day home to resemble a family atmosphere... we play together, we bake together, we laugh, dance and sing together!

I follow a daily routine to provide structure for the children, and incorporate appropriate age learning activities.  Though we have lots of time for free play, dancing and crafts.  We do many crafts which are not only fun but help children expand their creativity and fine motors skills. (see Gallery for some photos!)

We also spend alot of time outside. I believe kids need to be outside and in nature as much as possible. We are close to many parks and often take a walk to Lake Bonavista playground.  We have nature walks in Fish creek park, as well as little parks in our area, we like to create things from our natural environment, such as bird nests, mini log cabins, mud pies etc!  We also have a bouncy castle and a brand new play structure, along with sand box, and other various outdoor toys.

Weather permitting we will take a field trip once or twice a month (more often in the summer).  We often visit the zoo, science center, library, tumble time at lake bonavista recreation center, and various parks in the area. (Please note that field trips will be comprised of hikes through fish creek park, Edworthy Park, or our neighborhood during outbreak of Covid 19, we will not be visiting any indoor areas or playgrounds.)

I only take in 3-4 children at a time, as I like to give each child as much as my attention as possible.

Our fees include breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks.

Lunch is ALWAYS homemade, and we use as much ORGANIC as possible.  Pretty much all the vegetables and fruit are organic, as well as any rice, pasta, potatoes, eggs (local farms), and fish is wild.  I often bake buns or bread for sandwiches, and have homemade jams.

Snacks are either fruit or veggies, cheese, crackers, hummus, edamame beans etc.  If we have a treat we will bake it :) or a popsicle on a hot day. I think children need balance in their diet, and I try to provide as healthy as possible.  (I'm sorry but I do not serve hotdogs).

I know how hard it is to be away from your little ones, so I like to have as much open communication as possible, my door is always open for visits, however please do not come during nap time as it can be disruptive to children that are going to sleep.   I will send pictures and videos of our day, and send home a daily report on what they ate, how the slept and what they did for the day.

Children tend to share everything including their sickness when they are ill!  If your child is sick please use judgement on whether they are healthy enough to attend day home, as you probably wouldn't want another sick kid to be playing with your child.  Cold and runny noses are part of the territory when it comes to winter, so I am not concerned about that, but if your child has diareha or a fever or vominting, please keep them home, and if they develop these symptoms while at care, then the parents will be called to pick up their child.  We will make them as comfortable as possible until they are picked up.  We have a sick policy guideline for more serious illnesses in our contract. (NOTE: as we are in the middle of a pandemic, any signs of the cold or flu will require your children to stay home for the safety of my own family and others.)

All parents must provide extra change of clothes, hat, sunglasses, suncreen, diapers and wipes.

Thank you for visiting our site, and if you have any questions please feel free to email or call me! :)

We will have some spots coming available this summer 2020, as well as before and after school care this fall.
